Golf and Golf Cart Rides

The nice thing about sleeping in the camper is that the kids can just wake up and head back to our bed (usually Max first).  Of course, the not so nice thing for Sophie is that he usually then goes up and wakes her up.  They got up between 6 and 7 every day and we usually just hung out in the camper for an hour or two until we were really ready to get out and start the day.  Grant and Bobbie usually sleep in a little later so there was no rush to get out and do something.
Today was the day that Tom was planning on golfing with Grant and Bobbie.  They decided to head up the road to the Highlands to try hitting something other than deer.  Having the motorhome definitely made hanging out alone at a campsite with the kids a lot easier.  When I needed to contain them (like to make lunch) I can just bring them inside and close the door.  Voila!  Contained kiddos.  We took a little stroll around the campground while Tom was getting ready for golf, letting Sophie throw some rocks in the green water.  “Why don’t the fish like it there?”  “If the frogs live there then I can swim with them.”  Ummmm, no.
Both kids went on the merry-go-round for a little bit and then we headed back to the camper.  Max got some practice on the big boy swing (after Sophie knocked him over while he was walking.  He does seem more cautious around swings now…).  He only fell off a few times and seemed somewhat graceful about it.  They played on the swings and slide for awhile and then we decided to play in the little pools for a bit.  After lunch and some more outdoor play (mostly soccer…Max struggles with the whole “kick” concept but Sophie has added a scoring dance to her performance repertoire) we headed inside the camper for nap for Max and a cartoon for Sophie.
The kids, especially Sophie, loved golf cart rides with Harold.  When Sophie would hear him coming she would say “Harold is coming to give me a ride”.  Well, Harold was going to do some work but he would stop and give her a ride.  Max took a few rides but I think he was mostly mad that hey didn’t get to drive by himself so he boycotted rides after awhile, choosing to jump on the empty cart to “drive” whenever he got the chance.
Sophie had lots of practice trying to score and Grandpa was the goalie.  She snuck a few by him, in no time at all she’ll be giving him a real run for his money.  She also had fun playing goalie (with Grandpa as a back-up) trying to stop my shots.
My little grumpy man at break time.  Sophie was so proud that she could hang on the slide with her feet off the ground.

My soccer-playing kiddos.  Max has such a patient, kind, and sharing big sister.  Hopefully they are still so kind in 10 years.
